Sankalp Shikshan Sanstha is an NGO registered under the Mumbai Trust Act for empowering the hearing impaired through computer education & vocational training.
After retiring as a teacher from Vikas Vidyalaya, a school for the hearing impaired in Mumbai, Mrs. Pushpa Bhosale decided to continue working for this cause and founded the Institution.
Now in its 6th year, it has trained hundreds of students prepare for Class 10 Board exams (subject of computer education) or the MHCIT exam. Recently, seeing the work done by Mrs. Bhosale, the institute was granted recognition by MKCL (Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited) as a centre for conducting the MHCIT Exam
In an attempt to make learning computers more interesting and practical for the students, Sankalp Shikshan Sanstha started organising numerous competitions and seminars throughout the year, the chief of which is the Annual PowerPoint Competition which was started in 2014 for helping hearing impaired students hone their presentation skills.
We have been working with Maxplore E-Lab to teach the basics of doing business & helping set up a small scale venture for our student Pramila Rane. We hope Pramila’s example inspires others in Sankalp to start their own ventures for true independence!
To hone vocational skills of students, we identify and support students to present their skills or handcrafted articles at Exhibitions or Fairs. This year, we plan to organize a workshop for teachers on how teaching can be made effective, easier and interesting for hearing impaired students through digital platforms.
